What would you ask your favorite author?

With the popularity of school visits, web sites, e-mail, and blogs, authors are much more accessible to their readers than ever before. Bringing authors and readers together is a win-win situation. I love responding to questions from enthusiastic readers. Kids enjoy the opportunity to ask authors questions about the stories they love. Back in my day, I never considered the possibility of personal contact with one of my favorite authors. So - here are my questions to you all - I'd love to hear your responses. Please don't be shy!

1. If you are an author what is your favorite question from or for a reader?

2. If you could ask your favorite author from childhood a question, what would it be?

Happy Reading and Writing!

Hi Barbara,
One reader asked me, "What do you eat when you're not writing?" I told him ice cream, of course.

Hi Barbara,

My question for a reader would be, "What's the best book you've read lately?" I just like to know which books kids are enjoying the most.

My question for a favorite childhood author would be for Dr. Seuss, and I'd like to know if he dreams in rhyme.

Greg,

I love those off-topic questions! A kid once asked me "Why did you change your hair fom the picture on the book? It looks better in the picture." I might have been insulted if it wasn't so funny!

Terry,

I LOVE your Dr. Suess question! I wonder if he ever answered that one - it would be fun to find out!I can see your non-fiction book about Dr. Suess called "Dreaming in Rhyme!"

Barbara,
The question I would ask my favorite author(other than myself,of course-my mother taught me to have a high self esteem), what their favorite junk foody snack was. whenever i eat one my favorite treats(doritos, goobers, cow pies, ding dogs, reeses big cups, roasted pecans, buttered popcorn jelly beans, just to name a few) i am overcome by an extreme emotion to start writing! While most of my manuscripts have ice cream splotches on them, the permanent stains give me a "sweet" reminder to keep on going with my book. lately,i have not been recieving great feedback from the editors(they keep saying that my chapter book about my beloved kitty,Pinkus, becoming potty trained is not really needed in the book world right now)Anywho,
i immensely enjoy your blog! keep goin,Barbara!
